Our Assessment

Why we recommend Shreyas Retreat.

Twelve cottages on 25 acres at the edge of Bangalore — not a resort selling yoga on the side, but an AYUSH-certified Ayurveda hospital that wraps five-star hospitality around genuine medical depth.

The seven-night Silent Retreat (Mouna Retreat) is the most immersive offering — voluntary silence as the structural condition. First-time visitors do better starting with the Yoga Retreat Package and letting the arrival consultation shape the programme. Poolside Cottages have the most direct access to the infinity pool and the garden's evening sounds. Bangalore airport is one hour away; transfers are easily arranged.

Fit & Season

When this property truly shines.

Best season
October to March — comfortable temperatures in Karnataka, no monsoon rain, the quietest atmosphere on the estate.
Ideal for
Guests with a specific wellness intention: detox, an Ayurvedic course or deepening a yoga practice — not for a holiday with an optional spa visit.

What stays with you
Shirodhara in the morning: warm medicated oil flowing continuously over the forehead — followed by stillness, the garden path and a vegetarian lunch harvested that day from the property's own kitchen garden.
  • Maximum 25 guests at any one time — the ratio of attention to guests is rare, and the medical consultation on arrival is substantive, not a formality.
  • Panchakarma and Ayurvedic rejuvenation programmes under physician supervision — not a wellness add-on.
  • Satvic cuisine, alcohol-free and exclusively vegetarian; daily menus designed by doctors and sourced from the estate's organic gardens.
  • We know the property personally and help you identify the right programme — yoga, Panchakarma or silent retreat — for your available time.

Climate & best time to travel

When it rewards you most.

Best time to travel October to March, with November to February the calmest stretch across all four regions.

The houses in this selection sit far apart: Kerala's backwaters at sea level, the Sahyadri hills at around 800 metres, dry Rajasthan, and the upland around Bangalore at roughly 900 metres. One thing ties them together: the dry, cooler window from October to March suits each of these landscapes. The southwest monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain mainly to Kerala and the Sahyadri highlands, while Rajasthan stays comparatively dry. Kerala's winter days run about 18 to 30 degrees, the Sahyadri heights cool to around 12 degrees at night, Rajasthan shows warm days near 25 to 30 degrees with cold nights below 10, and the Bangalore upland stays mild at 15 to 28 degrees. Where possible, time your arrival to avoid both the monsoon and the hot pre-monsoon months of April and May.

  • October to March - dry season The dependable window for all four regions. Kerala around 18 to 30 degrees, Rajasthan with warm days and cool nights below 10 degrees, the Sahyadri heights and the Bangalore upland pleasantly mild. The most coherent choice for Ayurveda stays and Rajasthan touring.
  • April to May - pre-monsoon The hottest weeks. Rajasthan reaches 44 to 45 degrees, Kerala turns humid and hot around 25 to 35 degrees. The higher elevations stay more bearable, but for longer stays this period is demanding.
  • June to September - monsoon The southwest monsoon shapes Kerala and the Sahyadri hills with strong, often days-long rain; the Sahyadri records over 2,000 millimetres a year. The landscape turns deep green and temperatures drop to 22 to 28 degrees. Rajasthan stays markedly drier. A season for travellers who accept rain as part of the picture.

Experiences

What you come here for.

  1. Doctor-led Panchakarma cure

Shreyas is an AYUSH-certified Ayurvedic house. The medical consultation on arrival is no formality; from it follow Panchakarma cures and rejuvenation programmes under medical supervision.

  2. Yoga immersion across 25 acres

On the 25-acre grounds near Nelamangala, yoga stays can deepen over several days. With a maximum of 25 guests, the ratio of attention to guest stays close.

  3. Sattvic cuisine from the estate's organic garden

Menus are composed by doctors, alcohol-free and strictly vegetarian. Harvest comes fresh from the estate garden each day. The food is part of the cure, not its edge.

  4. Silent retreat in the Karnataka upland

At around 900 metres, the climate near Bangalore stays mild and the monsoon rain stays out. A silent retreat over several days uses this calm; we agree the right length with you.

Local Experiences

What shapes the stay.

  • Nandi Hills — granite outcrop with sunrise views, around 40 km away, almost deserted in the early morning.
  • Village and temple walk in Nelamangala — guided by the retreat, a grounded introduction to local culture.
  • Bangalore city — 35 km for a half-day: Lalbagh Botanical Garden and Vidhana Soudha for those interested in Indian history and botany.
