Best time to travel April, May, October and November
The transitional months of April and October are considered the best time: little wind, calm seas and dive visibility that often exceeds 30 metres. The northwest monsoon from November to March is warmer and more humid with heavy rain in January and February, while the southeast trades from May to September bring cooler, drier but windier days.
- April / October Wind-still shoulder months with calm seas and the best underwater visibility; ideal for snorkelling and diving.
- May–September Southeast trade winds, cooler and drier but noticeably windier; pleasant if you want to avoid the heat.
- November–March Northwest monsoon, warm and humid; January and February are the wettest months.

Anse Victorin with giant tortoises
Frégate is home to around 3,000 free-roaming Aldabra giant tortoises. At Anse Victorin you find a broad beach where they graze nearby and no one else is in view; good snorkelling begins just 15 metres offshore.

Nature walk with the conservation team
The island is a conservation project; the nature team explains the reintroduction of endemic species such as the Seychelles magpie robin and, from October to January, monitors hawksbill and green turtle nests.

Diving and sailing from the island's own marina
Frégate has its own small marina with sailing craft and a PADI dive centre; the surrounding reefs are reached without a long transfer.
