Best time to travel April to June and September to October

Ischia is rewarding from April to October, and its thermal waters carry the island through the shoulder season. In the cooler months the sea is still fresh at 15 to 19C, but the hot springs at 28 to 40C make up for it. August is hot and fully booked; spring and early autumn bring garden bloom, quiet baths and gentler prices.

  • April to May 15 to 22C and the thermal parks open. Still too cool for sea swimming, but the hot springs make the shoulder season appealing.
  • June to August Warm 26 to 30C with a sea around 24C. High summer is hot and heavily booked, especially in Sant'Angelo and the coastal hotels.
  • September to October Mild between 19 and 27C with the sea still 22 to 24C. Thermal operations continue; first houses begin to close from mid-October.

    Ischia's volcanic summit can be reached on foot from the centre of the island in a few hours, with a wide view over the Bay of Naples. The final stretch passes through paths cut into tuff stone. A soak in the thermal garden afterwards closes the day.
