We know this house personally. Suites in the historic Mas core have more character than the modernised new-build wings — ask specifically for stone walls and timber beams when booking. The restaurant terrace beside the pool is the finer dinner setting but must be reserved in advance.

Best time to travel May to early July, plus September and October.

The Luberon lies at 350 to 700 metres in a warm, dry summer climate. May to early July brings 20 to 28 degrees, blossom and good air. Lavender in the lower areas blooms from late June to mid-July, with the higher plateaus following later. July and August climb to 30 to 35 degrees and fill the villages. September returns the harvest and 22 to 27 degrees. Winter is cool and quiet.

  • July to August 30 to 35 degrees, crowded villages and markets. Plan early hours and midday shade.

    The property is a working vineyard, with the vines beginning behind the terrace wall. A tasting in the cellar, led by the house, is part of the stay rather than an extra.

    In September the hand harvest runs across the estate. Guests can spend a morning in the vines and see how the picking later becomes wine.
