Reverie is the newest chapter from Resplendent Ceylon — two houses on Sri Lanka's south coast that are deliberately less formal than the group's flagship properties. Ahu Bay sits on a headland between two bays; Kayaam House — now Kayaam Wellness — lies at the shore near Tangalle. Both share the same intention: less programme, more place.
The two houses have distinct characters — Ahu Bay is more open and contemporary, Kayaam is quieter and more wellness-focused. We recommend combining both: four nights at Ahu Bay, three at Kayaam, with a coastal road transfer. Best time to travel December to March for the south coast, hill country and Yala
Sri Lanka has two monsoons, and the best time depends on the coast. The southwest coast, the hill country and Yala are soaked by the Yala monsoon from May to September; the northeast coast is hit by the Maha monsoon from October to January. For the south-coast houses and the tea hill country, December to March is the most dependable stretch: dry, sunny, 25 to 33 degrees on the coast, cooler around 17 in the hills. Yala National Park usually closes in September and October for maintenance.
- December to March Dry and sunny on the south coast and in the hill country, 25 to 33 degrees on the coast. Best time for beach, tea fields and whale watching off Mirissa.
- February to July (Yala safari) Dry window for Yala National Park, when game gathers at the water holes and leopard sightings are most reliable. Morning drives reward the most.
- May to September Yala monsoon on the south and west coasts with rain and swell. At the same time the dry season on the east coast.
- September to October A transition with showers; Yala National Park is usually closed for four to six weeks for maintenance. Worth factoring into safari planning.
